Anxiety Disorders

Do you feel excessive, unrealistic worry

& tension with little or no reason?

Some anxiety is normal, however when your stress response remains on at all times (constant overwhelm & fear),

there may be an underlying reason at play. Anxiety may cause certain safety behaviors which prevent you from going to work, socializing with people & other important life events/situations.

The more we avoid the discomfort of anxiety, the worse it can become.

Some of the more common anxiety disorders include -

Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Panic Disorder

Social Anxiety Disorder

Phobias

Separation Anxiety

Grief & Loss

Losing someone, whether it be to death, loss of a job, family, pet or other significant relationship, is a part of life none of us are prepared for.

Mourning a loss (grief) is an intimate & unique experience with no timeline.

There are at least 5 known emotions associated with grief & loss -

Denial

Bargaining

Anger

Depression

Acceptance

These occur in no particular order & take as long as they require to move through.

Your feelings are valid no matter what causes your grief.

There are no right or wrong ways to mourn a loss. It is important to talk about it & there are ways that can assist you to move through your grief & loss.

Self-esteem issues/concerns

The relationship we have with ourselves is in my mind, the most important of all. Afterall, we spend our entire lives with US!!

Do you find you are your harshest critic?

Are your beliefs about yourself negative?

Do you like what you see in the mirror?

The opinion you have of yourself matters. When you have low self-esteem, you tend to see yourself, the world & your future more negatively. You might feel anxious, sad & unmotivated.

Everything could look too hard & unfair. You may even speak to yourself in a judgemental way, blaming yourself for things which are out of your control.

Your self-esteem affects how you live your life. A low self-esteem is not your fault & happens as a result of our external environment & the experiences we have throughout life.

Interpersonal Relationship Issues

The relationships we have with those around us, are essential to who we are & how we understand the world, forming our ideas & belief systems.

These relate to all personal relationships whether intimate/romantic or those of family/friends.

A person with interpersonal difficulties may have trouble relating to & bonding with others.

They may struggle with particular relationship types. This may stem from disrupted attachment as a child.

Our relationships with others are crucial

to our emotional & mental health

and wellbeing.

Signs & symptoms could look like -

Anger

Withdrawal

Lack of confidence

Difficulty communicating

Difficulty listening

Lack of negotiation skills

Isolation/Loneliness
