Who Am I?
My name is Nicole Shields & I am an ACA Accredited Counsellor at Life Flow Counselling Support Services.
I have always enjoyed working in a service role & am grateful for the extensive knowledge I have acquired through both academic & lived experience. I love to learn & believe that through knowledge, we are better able to empower ourselves.
"When we know better, we do better."
Giving ourselves permission to be seen, heard & supported, allows us to create a space for healing to occur.
My own personal journey into counselling began some 20 years ago, when I was no longer able to cope with life's many challenges & after a series of significant life events led me down the spiral into anxiety & depression.

I have been, at times in my own life - a victim, survivor & a warrior.
Looking back, I am more aware of our human condition & have learned that to be held in a safe & supported environment allows us to see, feel, accept & embrace all that we are. To me, vulnerability is a gift we give ourselves which says, "I am an imperfect human being who feels deeply & is not afraid to be seen & heard."
We have a choice in this life, to sink or swim. I am aware that when I stop struggling, I float. It is the law of nature.
To live in flow is a mental state in which a person is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus,
full involvement & enjoyment in the process.
Flow is the melting together of action & consciousness: the state of finding balance...

If you are feeling 'out of flow/balance in life,' I invite you to join me in rediscovering those parts of yourself you have lost,
due to past trauma &/or current concerns/issues. I offer you a space to surrender to all that you are, think & feel,
& who knows, like me, you may discover a part of yourself you are yet to meet.
My nature is warm, nurturing & accepting. I use evidence-based counselling frameworks/strategies backed by
extensive academic research, across a variety of therapeutic modalities including, but not limited to person-centered talk,
solution-focused, strength-based, compassion-focused, trauma informed, smart recovery for addictions, grief & loss,
mindfulness & holistic therapies. I have lived experience with low self-esteem/worth, anxiety, depression, intergenerational trauma, abandonment, family estrangement, traumatic childbirth & PTSD.
I welcome all walks of life & am trained in supporting our LGBTQIA+ community,
& First Nations people's needs respectfully. Individual, couples & family therapy are available.
My work code is ethical & professional, all inclusive, private & confidential, safe & secure.
We will work together, with you in the lead role, & me as your guide/skilled helper, creating a safe & supported haven that allows you to open up & discover your own inner world. It is not my job to advise or rescue you, but rather empower you to awaken to the realization that - 'the answers you seek are already within you.'
The result is often one of growth through self-enquiry & awareness, a deeper understanding & connection to
your innate mind/body wisdom, which can lead you to further empowerment, knowledge & truth.
You will receive only what you put into your own healing...

If you are 21 years or over and wish to gain & embody the necessary skills to live your life to the fullest,
please reach out and allow me to guide & support you on your journey home to self.
Come as you are... ALL of you is welcome.

it's understanding the necessity of both;
it's engaging.
It's being all in..." - Brene Brown
