Hi guys, it has been a minute! Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.

Yes, I am new to this & due to my anxiety, often feel uncertain about putting myself out there.

What could go wrong? The catch phrase of any overthinking (anxious) mind... WHAT IF???

So why is it that anxiety exists? Is it some punishment sent to drive us crazy?

As a Counsellor, anxiety is often the hot topic of conversation, be it generalized, separation or social anxiety. That's right, one size doesn't fit all!

Living with anxiety has taught me many things - firstly, that we all experience it to one degree or another. No one misses out!

However, some people have the ability to push through unscathed, but then there are those of us who spend days, even weeks on end struggling with that one particular thought which sends us spiraling out of control.

If your anxiety has grown into a savage beast that consumes you daily, then maybe I can be of assistance. It wasn't until I realized (after much deliberation), that I do in fact have some control over this ominous creature.

What if your anxiety isn't an enemy, but a friend? Hang on a minute, I can hear you saying, "How?" Well, give me a moment of your time & I will do my best to explain. Anxiety is a natural part of life, a built-in part of us that is there to remind you when it's time to be brave, fearless, or something other than the state you are currently in.

It is normal to experience some anxiety especially when trying something new, meeting people you don't know, making that all important speech or leaving home for the first time to travel the world.

Your anxiety is that little companion who gently (sometimes more forcefully), taps you on the shoulder & whispers in your ear, "I can see you are terrified right now & about to do something way out of your comfort zone, but I know you are capable, brave & can achieve this. I will be right here cheering you on."

I encourage you to embrace the uncertainty you feel, knowing this moment in time will come & go more quickly than you imagine. I invite you to take your anxiety by the hand & allow it to drive & motivate you to be brave enough to get that thing you fear the most done.

In time, you will learn to break the cycle of anxiety. It takes practice but I can vouch that the more you face your fears & do it anyway, you will become an expert at overcoming anxiety.

Hey, if I can do it, so can you! I believe in you & your little friend anxiety.

Join me again soon for some helpful coping tools & tricks!
